What is telehealth?
Telehealth allows your health provider to speak with you through your smartphone, tablet, or computer so that we can truly meet you where you are.
How does telehealth work?
You can speak to your health provider using doxy.me for a secure video visit, or audio-only visit. Doxy.me is a user-friendly platform that uses a secure connection to ensure your privacy.
How do I get ready for my telehealth appointment?
- Have a list of your medications ready to review.
- Prepare your questions for your provider.
- Try to find a private space for your telemedicine appointment.
- We may contact you in advance if we need specific information.
- Have a stable Wi-Fi connection – Wi-Fi often works better than a cell signal.
You will not need to download a special application on your phone, tablet or computer.
For phone calls:
- Make sure your phone is charged and ready.
- If you have earphones, use them for privacy.
For videos:
- Make sure your computer or phone is on, charged, and ready.
- Position your camera so that you and your provider can be face-to-face.
- Accept all doxy.me settings and prompts to allow video and microphone access.
- If you have earphones, use them for privacy.
How does the telehealth visit start?
- At the time of your appointment, you will receive a phone call from a private number. Be sure to answer it even if you don’t recognize the number. If you are not sure if your phone will accept calls from a private number, please give us a call at 617-569-5800 so one of our associates can assist you in changing this setting before the day of the appointment.
- You should receive a call within two hours of your appointment time. If you miss the call, we will follow up with you.
- Once you are connected, we will ask you a few questions to verify who you are.
Will my health insurance be charged for a telehealth visit?
- Telehealth visits are billed the same as office visits.
- Telehealth visits not related to COVID-19 testing and treatment are subject to co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance as determined by your coverage.
How can I communicate with my provider after my telehealth visit?
Just like a normal in-person visit, you can send messages to your provider using the MyChart platform. For more information, click here, call Patient Services at 617-568-4600, or email MyChartSupport@neighborhealth.com.
