Seae Ventures Partners with EBNHC to Improve Digital Health and Wellness Solutions for Underserved Communities

East Boston Neighborhood Health Center to support Seae Ventures existing portfolio companies in better understanding the social and healthcare needs of its patients

Boston, MA (October 10, 2023) — Today, East Boston Neighborhood Health Center (EBNHC) and Seae Ventures (Seae) are pleased to announce a new partnership to address health disparities for the primarily Hispanic population cared for by the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center.  The partnership will focus on bringing new technology to populations frequently often overlooked by the traditional health care system.

“East Boston Neighborhood Health Center is dedicated to bringing innovative solutions to their community and passionate about facilitating access to better care and outcomes,” said Tuoyo Louis, Seae Ventures Co-Founder and Managing Partner. “We are honored to be a part of that work given our shared values and are excited about what our portfolio companies can learn about the specific health and social challenges of this population to better address their needs.”

“As the largest community-based primary care provider in Massachusetts, we’re happy to partner with an organization equally committed to removing barriers to care for people of color in innovative ways,” said Greg Wilmot, President and CEO, East Boston Neighborhood Health Center. “We’re excited about the tech portfolio of diverse entrepreneurs that Seae supports and how these technologies may improve the health trajectory of our patients.”

“Communities of color face many roadblocks on their journey to receiving the equitable and high-quality care they deserve,” said Dr. Ryan Boxill, EBNHC Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “We’re thrilled to be working with the team at Seae who shares our interest in improving health outcomes and providing excellent, innovative, and culturally competent care for our patients.”

While Massachusetts is often recognized as a leader in access to health insurance coverage, the Commonwealth’s Black and Hispanic communities still face disparities in access to care. According to a recent Massachusetts Health Connector study, Hispanic residents of Massachusetts have had a higher rate of uninsurance compared to other races. In 2019, the gap between the uninsured rate of Hispanic individuals and Black, non- Hispanic individuals shrank considerably, with 5.6 percent of Black residents uninsured compared to 7.7 percent of Hispanic residents.

“This is a really exciting time for East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, Seae Ventures and entrepreneurs looking to make a real difference,” said Jason Robart, Seae Ventures Co-Founder and Managing Partner. “We are confident that there will be opportunities to replicate this successful partnership elsewhere across the country.”

EBNHC plans to leverage Seae, their portfolio of tech companies focused on areas such as women’s health, access to care, and care management and coordination, to drive innovation, and find opportunities to transform the way care is accessed and delivered to their community.
